Senior neighborhood Net (SenNet)

Purpose

Senior neighborhood Net (SenNet) is a program to inspire and ignite kindness and promote neighborhood network in two target communities, Chinatown and Panorama Hills, for Chinese older adults and their families to live a happy and independent life in an age friendly community.

Objective

  • Build up community natural support through enhancing neighborhood network
  • Increase the neighborhood engagement and community awareness of the issues and challenges facing older adults in their community
  • Enhance the knowledge and confidence of neighbor volunteers in helping older adults

Target Group

  • Ages 65+, Chinese older adults with language and cultural barriers
  • Lack of social support, such as live alone or low income or limited mobility

Services Content

We recruit and train the two targeted communities’ residents as informal neighbor volunteers to serve isolated Chinese older adults who reside in the same community. They provide neighborhood support in the community such as:

  • One to one informal neighbor support
